- I liked Scotty Smith’s Monday morning prayer, “Joy for a Week of Serving in Jesus’ Name,” especially the conclusion:
Our names are written with the indelible ink of God’s grace. Seen, known, and loved—we will never be un-born again, orphaned from your family, or have our citizenship in heaven canceled. Hallelujah! Jesus, we enter this week as your servants, but more importantly, as your beloved. So Very Amen
2. I liked—loved is more like it—this quote from Jonathan Edwards, which comes from a funeral sermon he preached:
“When a saint dies, he has no cause at all to grieve leaving friends and relations that he dearly loves, for he doth not properly leave them. For he enjoys them still in Christ; because everything that he loves in them, is in Christ in an infinite degree.”
3. During my morning devotions a few days ago, the words of Psalm 27:13–14 flew off the page and planted themselves deeply into my heart: “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” I want to spend some more time pondering these words, so be on the lookout for a blog post on those verses in the next week or so.
